Michael D. Schaff
Founding partner Michael D. Schaff is a hands-on attorney known for aggressively defending his clients in defense of workers' compensation. Certified as a specialist in the practice of workers' compensation law by the Pennsylvania Bar Association's Section on Workers' Compensation Law as authorized by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, Mike also has a subspecialty in handling longshore and harbor workers' claims. Licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania, the District of Columbia and Maryland, Mr. Schaff received his bachelor's degree from Muhlenberg College and his law degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.

Mr. Schaff has concentrated his practice on workers' compensation matters for more than a quarter of a century. As a Workers' Compensation Judge for the District of Columbia Department of Employment Services in Washington, D.C., Mr. Schaff conducted formal hearings and decided claims brought under the District of Columbia's Workers' Compensation Act. In 1991, Mr. Schaff started and ran the workers' compensation department at Naulty, Scaricamazza & McDevitt in Philadelphia until joining with Barbara Young to form Schaff & Young, P.C.

A member of the Workers' Compensation Sections of the Pennsylvania and Philadelphia Bar Associations, Mr. Schaff is a former chair of the Philadelphia Bar Association Workers' Compensation Section. Until recently, Mr. Schaff was a member of the Hearing Committee of the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. An AV rated attorney by Martindale-Hubbell, Mr. Schaff has been selected as a Super Lawyer in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 in the the field of workers' compensation.

In addition to writing on workers' compensation matters, Mr. Schaff frequently lectures on workers' compensation practice and procedure to bar associations, businesses and other organizations, including the National Business Institute and Philadelphia Bar Association Workers' Compensation Section.
