Attorney Michael D. Schaff is a founding partner of Schaff & Young and has been working in the field of workers’ compensation for more than 35 years. He focuses his practice on defending employers against claims brought under the Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation Act, as well as the Longshore and Harbor Worker’s Compensation Act (LHWCA). He has a subspecialty in defending uninsured employers againts workers’ compensation claims.
As a certified workers’ compensation specialist, attorney Schaff focuses on doing his best by his clients each and every time. Attorney Schaff’s first job in the field of workers’ compensation came in 1979, when he clerked with the U.S. Benefits Review Board in Washington, D.C. He served as an Attorney Advisor for the Board from 1980 to 1983, handling appeals under the LHWCA. He worked briefly in private practice in Baltimore, Maryland, and returned to D.C. in 1986 as a Workers’ Compensation Judge for the District of Columbia Department of Employment Services.
